The Violin Maker

The first episode of Made in Brooklyn presents an interview with a New York Violin maker who has been honing his craft since he was thirteen. Rather than live quietly in the country side, Sam Zygmuntowicz chooses to live in New York City where he can be closer to the musicians that play his violins. Comparing professional musicians with Olympic athletes, Zygmuntowicz feels that top musicians need top training equipment – and someone accessible to modify and maintain their instruments. Directed and filmed by Dustin Cohen and edited by Michael Hurley, the video provides quick glances at Zygmuntowicz hand carving his violins.
